KGS draw in last ball thriller!

A fantastic performance from the Under 15’s, so nearly gained victory in a nail biting finish.

Man of the match Tobias Parkinson 36, set the tone with an array of powerful blows through mid- wicket. In his pinch hitting role at the top of the order, he built momentum in the innings and was ably assisted by Hodgson 9 and the superb Pope 17. Sutcliffe making his debut, proved his undoubted ability with a classy 34, to take our score over the hundred mark. The right hand/left hand combination in the middle order unsettled the AKS bowlers’ line and the shot selection by all our batsman was a strong feature, enabling us to have meaningful stands and set a high total. Hoad contributed again with a valuable 10 not out.

KGS 127 for 4 off 20 overs

With a good total to defend, we tried to create scoreboard pressure on the opposition run chase with dot balls and boundary sweepers on both sides from early on. Parkinson cleaned out most of their top order with a superb first spell, ultimately bagging 4 wickets for 15 on the day. Michael Mellon joined the party, bowling at a lively pace and claimed 2 wickets for 17, grabbing one of the crucial wickets at a key time. The effort was backed up with excellent ground fielding (3 run outs), which collectively represented a vital improvement and showed a competitive edge, which is essential in raising your game against a good side of local rivals.

Theo Mihell bowled a really good last over and with one ball to spare AKS, somehow, scrambled a single, to draw the game in a sensational, tense finale. AKS 127 for 9 off 20 overs,

Well done to all the team. Training is on Monday lunchtime and Thursday 4 to 5.30pm KAIZEN!
